About this text diff tool
Use this free text comparison tool to find differences between two pieces of text. Choose Line or Word granularity and switch between a Unified or Side-by-Side view. The diff runs entirely in your browser (privacy-first), so your content never leaves your device.
How to use
- Paste the original text on the left and the modified text below it.
- Pick Line (best for paragraphs) or Word (fine changes).
- Toggle Ignore whitespace/case to reduce noise.
- Click Compare (Ctrl/Cmd+Enter). Copy (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+C) or download the diff HTML.
Common use cases
- Review edits between document versions.
- Compare generated copy with your draft.
- Track changes in release notes or readme files.
- Check tweaks in social captions, titles and meta descriptions.
Is the diff accurate?
Yes. It uses a longest common subsequence (LCS) approach for stable line/word diffs and options to ignore case/whitespace.
Do you store my text?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser for privacy.
What’s the best view?
Unified view is compact for quick scans. Side-by-Side is great for reviewing paragraphs line by line.
