I’m going to a concert, and I wonder what headsets work best for earplugs Schutz.Regelmäßige long term? plug shot? Jacks or musician? Anyone have answers?

  1. Manevitch says:

Look at the NRR (noise reduction rating) of any plugs you want to buy – the higher the number the better. The plugs I wear to shoot have a NRR of 31dB.

But here’s the secret: ear plugs help, but they’re not foolproof. The problem with plugs is that they only fit in your ear, and that’s great for blocking MOST loud noise, but a fair amount of sound is transmitted from that little knot of bone behind your ear. So to truly protect yourself, you’re always better using over-the-ears hearing protection that covers that portion of your skull as well. Dunno how that would look at a concert, though :-)
